I am honoured to assume the role of Chair of the Council for the Australian Federation (CAF) for 2026.
I thank the Hon Jeremy Rockliff MP for his leadership as Chair over the past year. His stewardship has supported strong collaboration across jurisdictions and helped progress reforms of national significance, including the landmark health and disability deal reached with the Commonwealth in January 2026, providing a solid foundation for the next phase of work ahead.
CAF plays an important role in bringing states and territories together to engage constructively on issues of shared national interest. As Chair, I am committed to continuing this collaborative approach, ensuring CAF remains a practical and effective forum for advancing priorities that matter to Australians.
In 2026,1 look forward to working closely with my colleagues to progress agreed priorities, build on the momentum already established, and ensure CAF continues to be a leader in national policy discussions.
